Nicola Fratoianni criticizes decline in Italian purchasing power
Nicola Fratoianni, national secretary of Sinistra italiana, has criticized the Meloni government regarding the decline in Italian purchasing power. Citing recent Istat data, Fratoianni stated that purchasing power is 9.4% lower than it was in 2021.
Fratoianni argued that families and workers have effectively lost one month's salary compared to 2021 due to the current administration's policies. To combat the rising cost of living, his party proposes several measures: implementing a legal minimum wage, increasing salaries automatically in line with inflation, and redistributing energy companies' excess profits to citizens. Additionally, he suggested tax reductions for 41 million people and increased measures to combat tax evasion.
