Nicola Fratoianni seeks consensus on Ukraine policy among Italian opposition

Nicola Fratoianni, national secretary of Sinistra Italiana, has addressed the challenges of forming a unified political front among Italy's main opposition parties regarding the war in Ukraine.

Speaking on La7, Fratoianni noted that while the Democratic Party (PD), the Five Star Movement (M5S), and Avs share many overlapping foreign policy views, differences exist concerning military aid to Ukraine. He suggested that the opposition must find a synthesis by establishing common ground, such as the shared recognition that Russia's invasion is criminal and that Ukraine must be supported, while remaining open to debate on the specific methods of that support.
