Nicola Gratteri presents ‘Cartelli di sangue’ in Grimaldi

Nicola Gratteri, the prosecutor of Naples, visited Grimaldi to present the book ‘Cartelli di sangue’ (Blood Cartels), co-authored with Antonio Nicaso. The event, held at Piazza Giuseppe Amantea, drew a large crowd of citizens, religious authorities, and military personnel.

During his speech, Gratteri addressed the global routes of cocaine trafficking from South America to Europe. He also discussed critical issues facing Southern Italy (the Mezzogiorno), including the depopulation of inland areas, infrastructure, and energy. Gratteri urged the younger generation to remain engaged, study, and take an active role in politics and civil responsibility rather than succumbing to resignation.

Local officials, including Mayor Paolo Stilla and City Council President Ramona Bruni, emphasized the importance of bringing anti-mafia discourse to peripheral territories. The discussion was further enriched by contributions from journalist Fabio Mandato and Professor Giancarlo Costabile, who highlighted culture and education as essential tools for combating organized crime.
