Nicola Squillace wins Il Cantagiro regional final in Melissa

Singer-songwriter Nicola Squillace of Soverato has won the regional final of the historic Italian music competition, Il Cantagiro. Squillace will represent the Calabria region at the national finals scheduled to take place in Senigallia from September 5 to 8.

For the first time, the competition chose the southern seafront of Torre Melissa as the location for its regional final. Local officials, including Mayor Luca Mauro, noted that hosting the event serves as a significant opportunity for territorial marketing and promoting local talent. The competition, which has been running since 1962, involves industry professionals such as record producers and journalists to evaluate performers. Top songs from the competition are featured in an official compilation presented during the Sanremo Music Festival week.
