Nicola Sturgeon challenged to sue nationalist blogger over republished accusations

Former Scottish First Minister Nicola Sturgeon has repeatedly denied any knowledge of the embezzlement committed by her estranged husband, Peter Murrell. Conservative MP David Davis used parliamentary privilege to allege that Sturgeon was lying about her lack of involvement and suggested she helped imprison Alex Salmond to cover up her husband's crimes. A nationalist blogger republished Davis’s full statements on his blog, prompting Davis to claim the words were now his own and inviting Sturgeon and her solicitor to sue him.

Sturgeon dismissed the allegations as conspiracy theory, accusing Davis of hiding behind parliamentary privilege. Deputy First Minister Jenny Gilruth said she would not comment on Davis’s remarks, while SNP MP Pete Wishart criticized Davis for making the attack without prior notice. The blogger reiterated that his repost reflects Davis’s views, asserting they are his own now that they are reproduced outside parliamentary protection.
