Nicolae Dobrin time capsule to be buried in new Pitești stadium

A time capsule containing a private message from legendary footballer Nicolae Dobrin will be buried in the foundation of the new Nicolae Dobrin Stadium in Pitești. On September 16, 2026, Gica Dobrin, the widow of the former player known as the ‘Prince of Trivale’, will place a letter inside the capsule.

The letter is intended to contain personal thoughts and reflections from Dobrin that were never shared in public interviews or written about in the media. The capsule is scheduled to remain buried for 30 years, with plans to open it in 2056 so that future generations can discover the athlete's unspoken messages.

Pitești Mayor Cristian Gentea initiated the project to preserve the memory of the footballer, noting that the stadium and the capsule ensure Dobrin's story continues to be told. Gica Dobrin expressed that the honor of preserving his memory through the stadium is a significant gesture for the city and FC Argeș.
