Nicolae Mitea reflects on Ajax career and personal life

Former Romanian international footballer Nicolae Mitea has reflected on his career and personal life in recent interviews. Mitea, who played for Ajax in the early 2000s, addressed the impact of injuries on his professional trajectory. He noted that while he did not reach the absolute global elite, his five-year tenure at Ajax was a significant achievement, citing the club's decision to extend his contract following a ligament injury as evidence of their confidence in him.

Mitea also discussed his current financial situation, stating that he now lives on approximately 940 euros per month, a stark contrast to his previous earnings. He dismissed rumors that his lifestyle in Amsterdam hindered his progress, asserting that he remained focused despite public speculation regarding nightlife and relationships.

Additionally, Mitea spoke about his past high-profile relationship with Andreea Tonciu. He described the relationship as serious, noting they had discussed marriage, but characterized it as a period of youth where both were heavily scrutinized by the media. He stated he no longer follows her life, noting that over a decade has passed since they were a couple.
