Nicolas Cage compares Marvel Cinematic Universe to WWE

Actor Nicolas Cage has criticized the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), comparing the franchise to a “well-funded and glorified WWE” during an interview at Fan Expo Dallas. Cage remarked that seeing highly talented, intelligent actors over the age of 50 wearing “ridiculous outfits” and preparing for inevitable fight sequences reminds him of professional wrestling.

Despite his critique, Cage noted that he makes these comments “with love,” as he remains a fan of comic books and has appeared in superhero-related projects, including the Ghost Rider films and the series Spider-Noir. His recent work in Spider-Noir focused on a classic film noir aesthetic rather than traditional superhero tropes.
