Nicolas Cage discusses losing himself in role during filming of Con Air

During a speech at New York Comic Con, actor Nicolas Cage shared experiences regarding his intense method acting while filming the 1996 movie ‘Con Air’, directed by John Woo. Cage stated that he ‘lost control’ while portraying the character Cameron Poe, specifically during a scene where the character is in prison.

He described feeling a sense of disorientation, questioning his own identity and surroundings. Cage noted that this occurred during the early stages of his career and that he has since developed his craft to maintain better control over his performances.

Additionally, Cage recalled directorial advice from John Woo, who frequently instructed him to ‘keep your back straight’ to ensure proper body posture while he was deeply immersed in his character's energy.
