Nicolas Cage rejects Amazon AI waiver, signaling end of partnership
Actor Nicolas Cage has stated he will likely not work with Amazon again after refusing to sign an artificial intelligence (AI) waiver for the Prime Video series ‘Spider-Noir’. Speaking at the New York Comic Con, Cage criticized Amazon’s heavy investment in OpenAI, noting, “I am not an AI-friendly actor, so it’s like, connect those dots!”
Cage’s refusal to authorize the use of AI in the production follows the unexpected cancellation of ‘Spider-Noir’ after just one season. Despite the cancellation, the series was a significant success, garnering 11 Emmy nominations and 2.6 billion streaming minutes in its first six weeks.
Looking ahead, Cage revealed he may join the fifth season of HBO’s ‘True Detective’. He also expressed a desire to collaborate with Gen Z filmmakers who utilize hands-on, manual production techniques rather than automated digital tools.
