Nicolas Cage teases potential role in True Detective season 5
During a panel at New York Comic Con, actor Nicolas Cage appeared to confirm his involvement in the fifth season of HBO’s anthology series, ‘True Detective’. While Cage’s remarks were somewhat conditional, he told the audience, “I think I might do a season of True Detective,” jokingly asking if it was acceptable that he was the first to announce the news.
Reports from August 2025 had previously suggested Cage was in negotiations to play Henry Logan, a New York detective. The upcoming season is expected to be set in Jamaica Bay, New York, and will be led by showrunner Issa López, who also helmed the fourth season, ‘True Detective: Night Country’. López has indicated that the new installment may share thematic or supernatural elements with the previous season.
Cage also addressed his recent work, noting a desire to balance film and television projects to ‘feed the family’. He briefly discussed his decision not to sign an AI usage waiver during the production of ‘Spider-Noir’ for Prime Video, suggesting he may not work with that studio again.
