Nicolas Cage unlikely to work with Amazon again over AI concerns

Actor Nicolas Cage stated during a panel at New York Comic Con that he will likely not work with Amazon again due to the company’s stance on artificial intelligence. Cage explained that he is “not an AI-friendly actor” and refused to sign a waiver that would have authorized the use of AI in the Prime Video series “Spider-Noir”.

Cage noted that Amazon is a “very AI-friendly company,” pointing to its $50 billion investment in OpenAI. While the specific details of the waiver were not disclosed, it is understood to involve the use of technology to recreate his likeness.

This announcement follows the recent cancellation of “Spider-Noir” by Amazon after a single season, despite the show receiving 11 Emmy nominations and significant viewership. Cage also mentioned his interest in working with Gen Z directors and teased a potential upcoming project with HBO’s “True Detective”.
