Nicolas Triaux appointed head of Charente Gendarmerie motorized units
Nicolas Triaux has taken command of the departmental flow control squadron of the Gendarmerie in Charente as of August 1. An experienced officer with 33 years of service, including 27 years in motorized units, Triaux previously led a similar squadron in Gers.
Triaux oversees 29 gendarmes distributed across four motorized brigades located in Angoulême, Barbezieux, Ruffec, and Chasseneuil. The unit's primary mission is road safety, with a specific focus on major routes such as the RN 10 and RN 141, as well as secondary roads where most fatal accidents occur.
In addition to traffic enforcement, the squadron is tasked with combating itinerant crime and various trafficking activities. The unit will also be equipped with five new BMW RT 130 motorcycles to assist in these operations.
