Nicole Kidman reflects on loneliness during 2003 Oscar win

Nicole Kidman has reflected on the emotional complexity of winning the Academy Award for Best Actress in 2003 for her role in ‘The Hours’. Speaking on the Therapuss podcast, the actress described the period as one of profound loneliness despite the professional milestone.

At the time of the ceremony, Kidman was navigating her separation from Tom Cruise, following a decade of marriage. She noted that while the award represented a career peak, the absence of a partner to share the achievement with led to feelings of sadness and melancholy. She recalled wanting ‘someone to hold me’ and feeling a strong urge to return home rather than attend post-ceremony celebrations.

Kidman later found stability in her personal life, marrying country singer Keith Urban in 2006. She emphasized that the experience taught her that professional accolades cannot replace the importance of personal relationships and emotional peace.
