Nicole Linton murder trial begins over fatal Los Angeles crash

The murder trial of Nicole Linton, a 39-year-old traveling nurse accused of causing a deadly 2022 car crash in Los Angeles, began with the presentation of graphic surveillance footage. Prosecutors allege that Linton was driving her Mercedes-Benz at approximately 130 mph when she sped through a red light at the intersection of La Brea and Slauson avenues in Windsor Hills, triggering a nine-car pileup that killed six people.

The evidence presented included footage of the collision and the aftermath, which reportedly caused family members to flee the courtroom. Among the victims were 23-year-old Asherey Ryan, who was eight and a half months pregnant, her boyfriend Reynold Lester, and their 11-month-old son, Alonzo Quintero. Prosecutors stated that the impact was so severe it caused the loss of Ryan’s unborn son and threw the infant Alonzo through the air.

Linton has pleaded not guilty to six counts of murder. Her defense team argues that she was experiencing a medical emergency, specifically a seizure, during the incident and was not under the influence of drugs or alcohol. Prosecutors have indicated they intend to present evidence to contradict the claim of a medical crisis.
