Nicolo Martinenghi wins 100m breaststroke gold at European Aquatics Championships

At the European Aquatics Championships in Paris, Nicolo Martinenghi of Italy won the men's 100m breaststroke gold with a time of 58.58 seconds. Ivan Kozhakin took second place, followed by Italy's Simone Cerasuolo in third.

Great Britain's Adam Ramsay-Peaty, a 16-time European champion and world record holder, finished fifth in the final with a time of 59.10 seconds. Despite the result, his time was 0.55 seconds faster than his performance at the recent Commonwealth Games. Ramsay-Peaty also participated in the mixed 4x100m medley relay, where the British team finished fourth.

Other notable results included Great Britain's Katie Shanahan winning gold in the women's 200m backstroke by a margin of 1.49 seconds. In the women's 100m freestyle, Marrit Steenbergen of the Netherlands set a championship record to secure gold, ahead of teammate Milou van Wijk.
