Nicolás De la Cruz reports improved fitness at Flamengo

Flamengo midfielder Nicolás De la Cruz has reported that he is experiencing his best physical condition since joining the club in 2024. The Uruguayan player noted that having only one injury this season has allowed him to maintain a consistent training schedule, despite the intense competition for positions in the midfield.

While his physical availability has improved, De la Cruz has seen a decrease in starts compared to previous seasons. In 2024, he started 32 of his 33 matches, but his role has shifted, and he is currently competing for space within the squad under coach Leonardo Jardim.

Flamengo’s head of the medical department, Fernando Sassaki, praised the player's evolution, specifically noting successful regenerative therapy used to manage previous knee issues. This medical management has contributed to De la Cruz being more available for selection throughout the 2026 season.
