Nicolás Gómez Arenas appointed ad hoc mayor of Cali for land planning

Nicolás Gómez Arenas, the current Chief of Staff for President Abelardo de la Espriella, has been designated as the ad hoc mayor of Cali specifically for matters regarding the Territorial Planning Plan (POT).

The appointment, effective October 5, is intended to address a conflict of interest involving Mayor Alejandro Eder. Eder is recused from decisions related to land use and development due to potential links to family economic activities in construction, civil engineering, real estate, and hospitality.

Gómez Arenas will manage the specific functions and decisions required for the POT and its derivative instruments, while Eder remains the mayor for all other administrative matters of the district.
