Nicolás Lodeiro to host youth football tournament in Paysandú

Former footballer Nicolás Lodeiro has announced the inaugural ‘Nico Lodeiro Cup’, a youth football tournament scheduled for November 14 and 15. The event will take place at the Barrio Obrero sports complex in Paysandú, Uruguay.

The tournament features the 2015 age category and will include four participating teams: Barrio Obrero, Los Santos (Canelones), Laureles (Fray Bentos), and Ferrocarril (Salto). The initiative was presented in collaboration with the Intendencia de Paysandú and Fundación Celeste.

Lodeiro stated that the project stems from a personal desire to share his roots with his son and to provide a space where children can enjoy football without the premature pressure often found in competitive youth sports. He expressed hope that this will be the first of many editions, potentially expanding to include all clubs in the city in the future.
