Nicolás Maduro Guerra addresses January 3rd incident and legal reforms

Venezuelan National Assembly Deputy Nicolás Maduro Guerra has addressed ongoing investigations regarding the January 3rd incident involving the extraction of his father, President Nicolás Maduro, and Cilia Flores. The deputy stated that political and military investigations are underway to determine if the event was an act by Washington or an internal conspiracy, noting that findings will be made public in due course.

Maduro Guerra characterized the January operation as an illegal incursion and an act outside of international law. He emphasized that diplomacy and political dialogue are the necessary mechanisms to resolve the country's current political situation.

Additionally, the deputy acknowledged that the ruling party, led by Vice President Delcy Rodríguez, recognizes excesses in the application of the Law Against Hate. He called for a partial reform of the 2017 legislation within Parliament to adapt it to the current socio-political context, while maintaining that the law's original purpose was to pacify the country following periods of violence.
