Nicolás Maduro Guerra seeks removal of US sanctions
Nicolás Maduro Guerra, known as “Nicolasito,” the son of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro, has expressed his desire for the United States to lift sanctions against him. Speaking in an interview on Venevisión, he stated, “I aspire to the opportunity to be heard by the whole world,” and maintained that he and his associates have “never committed any crime.”
His comments follow the recent removal of sanctions against Jorge Rodríguez by the U.S. Department of the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC). Despite this precedent, Maduro Guerra remains on a list that includes 254 Venezuelan individuals and entities, alongside several family members of high-ranking officials such as Diosdado Cabello and Cilia Flores.
Addressing his current situation, Maduro Guerra described his family circumstances as “complicated, difficult, [and] very hard,” but asserted that he has not gone into hiding and continues to represent his father’s political movement.
