Nicolás Peralta wins Argentina's first U-19 World Boxing title

Argentine boxer Edgardo Nicolás Peralta made history by winning the gold medal in the up to 60kg category at the World Amateur Youth U-19 Championship in Budva, Montenegro. This marks the first time an Argentine boxer has achieved this title in such competitions organized by World Boxing.

Peralta completed an undefeated campaign with five consecutive victories. His path to the gold included a referee stoppage against Daniil Kalistau of Belarus, a knockout of Romania's Ioan Serban Stoica, and unanimous decisions over Spain's Rodrigo Sánchez Herranz and Kazakhstan's Daniyar Akbissenov. In the final, he defeated Ireland's Kalib Walshe by unanimous decision.

The 18-year-old from Reconquista, Santa Fe, faced logistical challenges during the tournament, as his team had to coordinate the final match to avoid conflicting with scheduled return flights. Peralta, the son of former professional Saúl 'El Indio' Peralta, has previously won gold at the 2024 Evita Games and the 2026 South American Youth Games.
