Nicolás Varrone nears return to endurance racing with AF Corse

Argentine racing driver Nicolás Varrone is reportedly returning to endurance racing through a potential move to the Asian Le Mans Series. Following his departure from Formula 2, Varrone recently tested an LMP2 Oreca 07 car from the AF Corse team at the Portimão circuit in Portugal.

The upcoming Asian Le Mans Series season is scheduled to take place in Europe between November and February, with races set for Paul Ricard in France, Jerez in Spain, and Portimão in Portugal. This move follows Varrone’s successful 2023 season, where he was the LMGTE Am world champion and a winner at Le Mans.

While Varrone has not officially confirmed his next steps, his recent testing with AF Corse—a team closely linked to Ferrari—suggests a return to long-distance racing. His career trajectory also includes recent participation in IMSA events with Corvette Racing.
