Nicosia Court adjourns Central Prisons documents case

The Nicosia Assize Court has adjourned the hearing regarding the Central Prisons documents case until October 9. The postponement follows a request from the Prosecuting Authority to review applications for the suspension of criminal proceedings submitted by five of the eight defendants.

The case involves documents discovered in April 2024 at the residence of a former prison official. The defendants include former Prison Director Anna Aristotelous, former Deputy Director Athina Demetriou, five prison staff members, and a former member who is now a police officer.

The charges include conspiracy to commit a felony, theft by public officials, and abuse of power. Additionally, the former director faces charges related to the failure to comply with regulations concerning the security of classified information and documents.
