Nicosia Court sentences two for residential burglary

The Nicosia Heavy Criminal Court has sentenced two individuals, 20-year-old Yaşar Uğurşah and 16-year-old A. T., for residential burglary and theft. The defendants were found guilty of breaking into a residence by cutting a window screen with a knife.

During the incident, the pair stole 400 Euros in cash, jewelry valued at 11,800 TL, and an additional 5,000 TL in cash. Yaşar Uğurşah received a nine-month prison sentence, while A. T. was sentenced to one month.

In delivering the verdict, Judge Gülay Uğur emphasized the importance of sentences that serve as a deterrent to both the perpetrators and potential future offenders. The court noted that crimes involving housebreaking, theft, and trespass violate constitutionally protected property rights and undermine public peace and security.
