Nicosia Folk Dance Festival to begin August 27

The 16th International Nicosia Folk Dance Festival is scheduled to begin on August 27. Hosted by the Nicosia Turkish Municipality (LTB), the event will feature participating groups from Turkey, Italy, Iran, and Brazil.

Organized in collaboration with the Nicosia Folklore Association and several partner organizations, including FOGEM, TUFAD, and HASDER, the festival includes a variety of activities. The program kicks off on August 27 with a ‘Cyprus Night’ featuring workshops, musical performances, and local cuisine. Other scheduled events include a parade opening at Kızılbaş Park, free performances on August 29 and 31, and a closing ceremony on September 1.

Additional festivities include a beach day at Lido Beach and beauty and dance competitions on August 30. LTB President Mehmet Harmancı noted the importance of the festival’s timing, as it coincides with World Peace Day, aiming to foster international friendships through cultural exchange.
