Nicosia police arrest individual for check forgery and fraud

A suspect, identified as E. Y., has been arrested in Nicosia for check forgery, circulation of forged documents, and obtaining money through fraud. According to police testimony, the suspect used a forged 480,000 TL bank check to purchase a Hyundai i10 valued at 315,000 TL from a local resident. Through this scheme, the suspect also obtained 2,500 GBP (approximately 165,000 TL) in change, totaling a fraud of 480,000 TL.

E. Y. faces multiple outstanding arrest warrants in Famagusta, Kyrenia, Gönyeli, and Nicosia for offenses including official document forgery and failure to comply with court orders. Police requested the suspect remain in custody to prevent interference with ongoing investigations.

A second individual, C. A., was also brought before the court on charges of concealing a crime. It is alleged that C. A. provided a vehicle and assistance to help E. Y. evade arrest despite knowing the suspect was wanted for check forgery.
