Nicosia police arrest two men following vehicle assault

Police in Nicosia are investigating an assault involving an intentional attempt to cause grievous bodily harm. Two 32-year-old men were arrested following an incident in the Nicosia district where two victims were struck by a vehicle.

According to investigators, the suspects met a 30-year-old man at the scene. One suspect allegedly used a car to strike the 30-year-old and subsequently hit a 32-year-old relative who had rushed to assist. The driver fled the scene, while a second 32-year-old suspect, who arrived on a motorcycle, remained and physically attacked the 30-year-old victim.

Authorities discovered that the motorcycle used by the second suspect had been reported stolen. Both suspects were brought before the Nicosia District Court, which granted an eight-day detention order for further police questioning. The victims were treated at Nicosia General Hospital; one sustained injuries to his chest and leg but is in non-critical condition.
