Nicosia resident detained for 2,511 days of illegal residence

An individual, identified as Ö. G., has been detained in Nicosia for residing in Northern Cyprus without a valid permit for 2,511 days. The individual was apprehended during a patrol on Girne Street by the Crime Prevention Branch of the Nicosia Police Directorate.

During court proceedings, the suspect stated they were born in Famagusta and have lived in the region for 40 years. The suspect expressed concern regarding potential deportation, citing family ties and financial hardship. A judge has ordered the individual to remain in custody for an additional seven days while deportation procedures are finalized.
