Nicosia road closures announced for October 1 military parade

The Cyprus Police have announced significant road closures in Nicosia on October 1, 2026, to accommodate a military parade scheduled for 11:00 a.m.

Key affected areas include sections of Iosif Ch. Iosif Avenue in Strovolos, Spyrou Kyprianou Avenue, Dimitris Vikela Street, Perikleous Street, and Stavrou Avenue. Specific closure times vary, with some restrictions beginning as early as 06:30 a.m. and others lasting until 13:00. Additionally, traffic on Athinas Avenue will be interrupted between 10:00 and 13:00 to facilitate the movement of non-motorized parade participants.

Drivers traveling to or from Nicosia are advised to use the Nicosia–Limassol highway via Limassol Avenue and the ring road from the Tséri roundabout. Alternative routes include Hippocrates and Dimitris Christofia streets. For those navigating the area bounded by Athinas, Iosif Ch. Iosif, Spyrou Kyprianou, and the Nicosia–Limassol highway, entry is recommended via the highway exit near the Olympic Stadium, with exits via Spyrou Kyprianou Avenue.
