İskele to establish mobile construction materials laboratory

İskele Municipality has signed a cooperation protocol with the Chamber of Civil Engineers (IMO) and ALFALAB Technology Ltd. to establish a Mobile Construction Materials Laboratory in the İskele region.

The laboratory will conduct technical tests, including concrete sampling, concrete compressive strength testing, and reinforced concrete rebar tensile testing. The initiative aims to enhance building safety and ensure construction materials meet technical standards through more effective local inspections.

İskele Mayor Hasan Sadıkoğlu noted that the February 6 earthquakes highlighted the critical importance of building supervision. Abdullah Ekinci, President of the Chamber of Civil Engineers, stated that approximately one-third of the country’s construction activities take place in the İskele region, making the high-tech mobile laboratory a vital resource for the area. Additionally, a public park will be created at the laboratory site, with investment costs covered by the Chamber of Civil Engineers.
