Nicosiana festival brings free women's cancer screenings to Nicosia, Sicily

From 27 to 29 August, the town of Nicosia in Enna province, Sicily, will host the Nicosiana festival, a three‑day event aimed at improving female oncological prevention. The program offers free breast‑cancer and cervical‑cancer screenings, including gynecological examinations and breast ultrasounds, alongside medical talks, debates and cultural performances.

The festival is organized by the cultural association Divina Mania together with the Municipality of Nicosia and the provincial health authority ASP Enna. Actors Ludovica Bizzaglia, Valeria Solarino, Alberto Paradossi and Giacomo Ferrara serve as public presenters to raise awareness. Debora Leonardi, the coordinator of Divina Mania, said, “Nicosiana nasce da un’urgenza… di portare la prevenzione al centro del discorso pubblico e di trasformarla in un impegno collettivo.” Funds raised will support local preventive services and aim to close the gap in screening uptake that plagues Italy’s southern interior regions.
