Nicotine Pouches Linked to Higher Oral Cancer Risk, Health Experts Warn

Nicotine pouches, marketed as a smokeless alternative to cigarettes, may increase the risk of oral cancer. Japanese dental specialists note that long‑term use can cause pre‑cancerous lesions and, in many cases, invasive surgery that severely impacts patients' ability to eat, speak and their overall quality of life. Polish public‑health researchers echo these concerns, emphasizing that the products contain high doses of addictive nicotine, damage the oral mucosa, and can affect the cardiovascular system. They also point to aggressive marketing, appealing flavors and discreet use that target teenagers and young adults. Both sets of experts stress the lack of long‑term safety data and recommend complete cessation of all tobacco and nicotine products as the safest prevention strategy.
