Nicușor Dan addresses judicial trust and societal values

Romanian President Nicușor Dan addressed several key issues during recent public engagements. Speaking to graduates of the National Institute of Magistracy, he highlighted a critical lack of public trust in the justice system, noting it currently stands at only 25%. He urged new magistrates to avoid arrogance and conformism, emphasizing that the judiciary is a public service that must maintain a healthy balance with political powers.

In a separate address at the International Meeting of Orthodox Youth (ITO 2026) held at the National Cathedral, the President called on young people to express their values publicly and embrace a ‘healthy nationalism’ to counter societal divisions and the influence of ‘demagogues’ in the public sphere.

Additionally, President Dan signed decrees for the retirement of several judges and prosecutors. Among those released from duty is Vasile Drăghici, a prominent prosecutor from the Constanța Court of Appeal known for his involvement in the high-profile ‘Flota’ case involving former President Traian Băsescu.
