NIDA Poll reveals public concerns over community nurse volunteers

A recent NIDA Poll survey conducted between October 19-21, 2026, highlights public perception regarding the Community Nurse Volunteer (CNV) program in Thailand. The survey, which sampled 1,310 participants across various regions, found that 51.76% of respondents were neither aware of nor understood the program of having one volunteer per sub-district.

Regarding trust in volunteer qualifications to care for vulnerable groups, the highest level of confidence was placed in professionals with nursing, midwifery, or public health licenses who completed a 30-hour training course, with 64.12% expressing high trust. Trust levels decreased among those with health-related bachelor's degrees following 120 hours of training, and were lowest among general bachelor's degree holders who completed 240 hours of training.

The survey results indicate significant public interest in the qualifications and selection processes used to appoint these community health volunteers.
