Nidderau senior loses gold and jewelry in shock call scam

A senior citizen in Nidderau, Germany, has lost gold and jewelry valued in the mid-five-figure range following a ‘shock call’ scam. Fraudsters contacted the woman claiming her daughter had caused a fatal traffic accident and required a high bail payment to avoid imprisonment.

During the call, a person posing as a police officer arranged for an accomplice to collect valuables. A woman, described as being between 20 and 25 years old, slim, with blonde hair and wearing a purple turtleneck sweater, arrived at the residence and took the items in a red cloth bag.

This incident follows a similar scam in Freigericht just one week prior, where a victim lost jewelry worth approximately 70,000 euros. The police have issued an urgent warning, stating that legitimate law enforcement officers or prosecutors will never demand cash, gold, or jewelry as bail, nor will they send individuals to collect valuables from a home.
