Niğde crackdown nets 43 fugitives and seizes weapons, cash and drugs

Turkish police and gendarmerie carried out a week‑long series of security, drug, smuggling and traffic inspections across the province of Niğde. The operations resulted in legal action against 259 individuals, the detention of four suspects and the capture of 43 wanted persons who were sent to judicial authorities.

Authorities also seized a range of illicit items, including four pistols, one broken‑down pistol, four magazines, 114 rounds of ammunition, two cutting tools, two mobile phones, a binocular, 50,410 Turkish lira, $450, €120 in cash, 149.46 g of cannabis, 24.64 g of synthetic cannabinoid, eight hemp roots, 2.51 g of methamphetamine, drug‑use equipment, a hunting rifle, 53 pistol cartridges, 150 packs of cigarettes, a detector and a historical artifact. Traffic checks involved more than 28,000 vehicles, leading to fines for 1,460 drivers and the removal of 147 vehicles from the road.
