Niğde fatal accident: Father seeks justice over sentencing

A father in Niğde is calling for justice following a fatal traffic accident on the Niğde-Çiftlik road that occurred on November 9, 2025. The accident, involving a vehicle that overturned into a ditch, resulted in the deaths of 16-year-old Mustafa Menzilciler and 17-year-old Ahmet Bingöl.

Metin Menzilciler, the father of Mustafa, has expressed dissatisfaction with the judicial outcome. The driver, who was 17 and unlicensed at the time of the accident, was sentenced to 3 years and 8 months in prison. The court applied a reduction in the sentence due to the driver's age.

Metin Menzilciler criticized the speed of the trial and the leniency of the sentence, noting that the driver has not spent any time in prison. He also alleged inconsistencies in the driver's statements, claiming the driver initially denied being behind the wheel during the investigation but changed his testimony in court. The case has been forwarded to the regional court of appeals.
