Niğde hosts 3rd Traditional Half Marathon in memory of Ömer Halisdemir

The 3rd Traditional Half Marathon was held in Niğde, Turkey, in memory of Ömer Halisdemir. The event drew more than 1,100 athletes from various Turkish provinces and six different countries.

Participants competed in three distinct categories: a 21-kilometer half marathon, a 10-kilometer race, and a 5-kilometer public run. The 21-kilometer course began at the Tyana Ancient City Water Aqueducts in Kemerhisar and concluded in the Niğde city center. The 10-kilometer and 5-kilometer races both started and ended within the city center.

Niğde Governor Nedim Akmeşe emphasized that starting the race at the Tyana Ancient City was a strategic move to promote the region's historical significance. Niğde Mayor Emrah Özdemir added that the event helps showcase local cultural landmarks such as Kemerhisar, the Gümüşler Monastery, and Yeşilburç. Following the races, an award ceremony was held to recognize the top performers in each category.
