Niğde Ömer Halisdemir University Boosts Rankings and Honey Production

Rector Prof. Dr. Hasan Uslu highlighted Niğde Ömer Halisdemir University’s (NÖHÜ) growth, noting 27,088 students, 16 faculties, 6 vocational schools, 4 institutes and extensive research centers. The university placed 2,191st out of 2,000+ institutions in the Times Higher Education 2026 World Rankings, ranking 41st among Turkish universities, and entered the QS Europe 2026 list in the 701‑900 band (50th in Turkey). In the THE Impact Rankings 2026, NÖHÜ rose to 691 worldwide.

NÖHÜ’s on‑campus beekeeping unit harvested roughly 3 tonnes of honey from more than 200 hives in 2026, a result of modern colony management and collaboration with the Niğde Beekeepers Union. The project secured a geographical indication for Niğde Geven honey and serves as a practical training platform for students, linking scientific research with regional agricultural development.
