Niğde Mountain, Nature and Ice Cream Festival Begins
The "Dağ, Doğa ve Dondurma Festivali" opened in Niğde with a parade that started at the city clock tower, passed along Murat Zeren Street and ended at a covered parking lot beside the governor’s office. Governor Nedim Akmeşe praised the harmony of city and mountain, noting a shift in tourism toward untouched natural areas, while Mayor Emrah Özdemir highlighted Niğde’s potential as a destination for mountain sports and the region’s half‑century ice‑cream tradition.
The first day concluded with a concert by singer Ferhat Göçer. The program, which will continue in Emli Valley (Çamardı) and central Niğde, includes scouting lessons, camping experiences, an astronomy tent, nature hikes to Parmak Kaya, workshops, competitions, ATV and caravan displays, and family‑friendly activities. Officials also referenced Aladağlar’s peaks—over 3,000 m—and Demirkazık, dubbed “Turkey’s Everest,” which draws climbers from abroad.
