Niğde Police Warn Residents of Fraud Scams
The Niğde Provincial Police Department, via its Community‑Supported Policing units, launched a city‑wide anti‑fraud campaign. Officers visited parks, streets, a teachers’ cafeteria, the 100th Year National Library and factories in the organized industrial zone to hand out informational brochures and speak directly with citizens. The outreach highlighted common digital‑age crimes, including phone impersonation of police or prosecutors, fake investment offers on social media, bogus online vehicle‑rental sites and the growing “IBAN‑rental” fraud. Police stressed that no public official ever requests money and urged residents to be cautious of unknown callers and messages. The operation aims to reduce fear of crime and increase public awareness of new fraud methods.
