Nidec Corp. reports 564.6 billion yen loss amid audit disclaimer

Nidec Corp. has reported a massive consolidated net loss of 564.6 billion yen for fiscal 2025, marking a significant downturn from the previous year's profit. The loss was driven largely by impairment losses exceeding 632 billion yen, which included costs related to deteriorating profitability in China and investigation expenses totaling 30.5 billion yen following recent corporate scandals.

Auditor PwC Japan Group issued a disclaimer of opinion regarding both Nidec's consolidated financial statements and its internal control report. The auditor stated it could not obtain sufficient evidence because certain employees and officers involved in or aware of inappropriate accounting practices, or those who provided false explanations to auditors, continue to hold responsible positions within the financial reporting process.

The company faces potential delisting risks as the Tokyo Stock Exchange reviews its status as a special alert issue. Nidec plans to submit a document regarding its internal management system in late October to address these concerns. Despite the current crisis, Nidec projects a return to profitability in fiscal 2026 with an estimated net profit of 100 billion yen.
