Nidhhi Agerwal questioned by ED in illegal betting app probe

Telugu actor Nidhhi Agerwal was questioned by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in Hyderabad on Wednesday regarding a money laundering investigation into the promotion of illegal betting applications.

The probe is part of a wider crackdown on celebrities and influencers accused of endorsing illegal gambling platforms on social media. Authorities are examining financial transactions linked to these endorsements, including allegations that payments were routed through hawala channels. Agerwal had previously appeared before the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) in Hyderabad for questioning related to the same matter.

To date, the ED has booked 21 celebrities in connection with this case. The investigation follows a First Information Report (FIR) filed by businessman PM Phanindra Sarma, which alleged that these promotions violated the Public Gambling Act of 1867. The agency is currently tracing the movement of funds to determine the extent of the illegal financial activity.
