Śnieżka Observatory to undergo 24 million PLN renovation

The Institute of Meteorology and Water Management (IMGW) has selected Pre-Fabrykat from Miłków to undertake a major renovation of the High Mountain Meteorological Observatory on Śnieżka. The contract, valued at approximately 24.4 million PLN, is expected to be signed during the XXXV Economic Forum in Karpacz.

The extensive project aims to modernize the iconic modernist structure while preserving its unique architectural character. Key works include replacing the roofing on all three characteristic “discs,” reinforcing the building's construction, and upgrading internal installations, including electrical, water, sewage, ventilation, and air conditioning systems. The facility will also be updated to meet modern fire safety standards.

A significant aspect of the renovation is the restoration of the lower disc, which has been out of use for years. Once completed, this area is intended to house a catering point and public toilets for tourists. The investment is projected to continue through 2031.
