Nienke Vinke narrowly misses first pro win at Faun Tour

Nienke Vinke narrowly missed her first professional victory during the opening stage of the Faun Tour Femmes in Guilherand-Granges, France. The 22-year-old SD Worx-Protime rider was part of a strong breakaway that included Anna Henderson, Gaia Realini, Lore De Schepper, and Paula Patiño.

Despite the breakaway maintaining a lead of over a minute heading into the final ten kilometers, the peloton, led by the FDJ United-SUEZ team, closed the gap. Vinke ultimately lost the sprint to Solène Muller. The race also marked the season debut of Australian climber Sarah Gigante following a year of rehabilitation.
