Polish religious traditions mark Nativity of Mary and harvest

Various religious observances and traditions are being marked in Poland, centered around the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary and harvest celebrations. In many parishes, the feast is known as Matka Boża Siewna, a day traditionally associated with the blessing of seeds for sowing to ensure abundant crops.

At Jasna Góra, the National Harvest Thanksgiving festival is underway, featuring a pilgrimage for farmers. Bishop Leszek Leszkiewicz emphasized the importance of expressing gratitude for the harvest and cautioned against the waste of food.

Other significant religious activities include a meeting in Niepokalanów focused on the life of Stanisława Leszczyńska, novenas to the Holy Name of Mary, and various local parish announcements regarding mass intentions, community gatherings, and upcoming pilgrimages.
