NIESV urges professional involvement in Nigerian government projects

The Nigerian Institution of Estate Surveyors and Valuers (NIESV) is advocating for increased professional involvement in government projects to prevent cost overruns, disputes, and delays. During the 2026 Estate Valuers Week in Kogi State, NIESV Chairman John Oluwayinka Eniwaiye emphasized that registered estate surveyors and valuers are essential for bridging the gap between policy formulation and execution, particularly in managing large-scale infrastructure, urban renewal, and industrial land resources.

In a separate push for real estate advocacy, NIESV Fellow M. I. Okoro has called on federal and state governments to be more intentional regarding social housing and local government council flats. Okoro highlighted the need for professional guidance in sourcing funds and managing environmental compliance, noting that information advocacy through media platforms is being used to bridge the knowledge gap between the public and the government.
