Nieuw Nijver development center opens in Nijkerk
The Nieuw Nijver development center officially opened on September 26 in Nijkerk. The center was inaugurated by Alderman Marleen van den Nieuwendijk.
Designed as a hub for learning, working, and social interaction, the facility serves asylum seekers, displaced persons from Ukraine, and status holders. It is also available to Nijkerk residents seeking additional support with employment or social participation. The municipality aims to facilitate immediate participation in society, regardless of the long-term certainty of residents' status.
The center includes practical components such as a thrift store, which serves as a reintegration project for participants to learn vocational skills. During the opening, discussions also touched upon the economic backgrounds of residents and their ability to participate in the local workforce.
