Nieuwegein allocates €484,000 for Nijpelsplantsoen community center

The Nieuwegein municipal executive has approved a €484,000 subsidy for housing corporation Woonin to establish both a temporary and permanent community center at Nijpelsplantsoen. The funding is intended to ensure residents have a meeting space during large-scale renovations and new construction projects in the area.

The subsidy is part of a previously agreed-upon investment with the national government regarding the approach to the Centrale As, with €400,000 (excluding VAT) specifically reserved for this purpose. While residents currently use the 't Nyp community room for consultations and social interaction, the new funds will secure a permanent location within a future nine-story apartment complex featuring 67 units.
